this has more INFORMATION than the KKLZ one
old stories go here
96.3 KKLZ and the Silverton Casino Hotel have issued a $10,000 reward for the return of Mike & Carla's world famous Jingle Bell Rock. The ROCKNAPPER sent us this recording:
(Creepy Voice)
"We will hide the Jingle Bell Rock on Friday December 13th. We will give you varied clues each weekday on 96.3 KKLZ. You will also find a written clue posted at the Silverton Rewards Club each weekday. That is all for now."
96.3 KKLZ and the Silverton Casino Hotel are still offering a $10,000 reward for the return of Mike & Carla's world famous Jingle Bell Rock. The ROCKNAPPERS have contacted us again:
(Creepy Voice)
"The Jingle Bell Rock has not been harmed. You can begin searching for it on Friday, December 13th. Do not contact the police. Keep track of the clues running each weekday on 96.3 KKLZ and at the Silverton Reward Club. That is all for now."
Audio 3
96.3 KKLZ and the Silverton Casino Hotel are still offering a $10,000 reward for the return of Mike & Carla's world famous Jingle Bell Rock. Here is the latest from the ROCKNAPPERS:
(Creepy Voice)
"We are no longer in posession of the Jingle Bell Rock, but we are the only ones who know where it is hidden. Do not contact the authorities. Your only chance of finding the rock are to gather all the clues revealed each weekday on 96.3 KKLZ and at the Silverton's Rewards Club. That is all for now."
Newbies start HERE
Like I was saying, the RULES tell us that the CLUES START DECEMBER 2ND (details below), the radio clues are 8am, 1pm, and 6pm (more like, 8:10 etc. and only on weekdays), and the daily bonus clues are at the Silverton. Normally we can expect the bonus clue to be available around 8 or 9 a.m. at the Silverton rewards club. All 5 PUZZLE PIECES have been announced.(details below), AND "You can start looking for the 'JBR' on Friday,
December 13th
."
Anyone could guess that the station probably doesn't want to meet a bunch of searchers when the rock arrives (after last year's near debacle), so as Mike O'Brien told us at the kickoff party, there is definitely some kind of twist to the contest this year. We don't know what this "TWIST" will be, but we can't wait to find out. Hopefully kklz learned not to take a picture of the search area... too many crazed Jingle Nuts playing this game, and just the kind of challenge we love. Good Luck JBR hunters 2019.

RIP Yvonne. Sorry to say we lost one of our searchers this year. Yvonne was a tough and determined searcher for many years. I also saw her do many acts of service for others. She was funny of course, and demanding and strong willed too. Even more heartbreaking, her husband Frank also died a few weeks later after a short battle with cancer. Frank was a valued friend of mine. Nicest guy for sure. We'll miss you Frank and Yvonne.
The WHOLE story, is almost TOO INCREDIBLE to believe.

East end of Burkholder Blvd.
From Angela:
This was my 5th year searching. I have been close to finding it the past 3 years, I could never pinpoint the exact location. I started thinking the first day clues were only talking about the rock..no direction yet. Nothing really clicked until after the full week of clues were given. Then I really started thinking of what the writer of the clues was thinking since nothing was making much sense to me. That's when I put the clues to use. I thought of all this pretty much in one night. Always look down(south) flat as a pancake(head east-it's the name of the band that sings flat as a pancake) . I had to put the videotape and book clues together because I then knew not a videotape meant book. So please be kind rewind (previous locations) the book he was referring to was let's go to the videotape by Warren WOLF (basic high are the wolves). I couldn't put any other things together out there besides the Seinfeld says. I started to think things Seinfeld says because of the seinlanguage clue. Seinfeld has this thing about"the Drake. He says, "hate the Drake!" But on the show you either love the Drake or you hate the Drake. So when I couldn't find anything around the corner from magic way and burkholder on magic and drake( where it was previous) I went to the spot it had been and headed all the way east. Came up to an arrow that pointed right ,parked, walked across the street and looked being the first bush and the rock was there . Flat as a pancake with a book seinlanguage upside down with the clue, it's my book but you can read it on the back cover and a videotape sitting next to it! Wow! I broke the clues down and finally found the rock! Shoot out to kklz, the Silverton, and decall!!.. The first day. I didnt know what to do with myself. The second day I was still in disbelief..and now.. well... I'm sad is over! This is my life during December lol... Until next year JBR hunters.....

the 2012 Jingle Bell Rock has been found!!!!!!!!
Congratulations Gordon McDaniel
Congratulations to Gordon McDaniel who has found the jingle bell rock worth $10,000. Right on. Wooohoo!! Congratulations man, we are happy for you. And who is the lovely lady with you? That's my wife Ann. Ann how are you. Just fine thank you. Thank you for yelling from the back of the room. Alright. First of all where did you find it? Burkholder and Magic Way in Henderson. And what clue led you to that. This combination uh this past week it's been leading us down Boulder Highway. What toped it this afternoon was the clue about beans. I puzzled about it for a while and uh finally came up with Jack and the Bean Stock, magic beans, (oh wow) And just started driving magic way. And were there any other people out in that area looking? There were people out there all over the place, with the closest person was probably a hundred yards away, a lot of people walking off into the deep desert. Burkholder and South Magic Way, is that like a corner, are there corners there? Yeah, it's kind of an intersection, uh one road's paved, Burkholder's paved, and uh Magic Way is dirt road at that section. Just didn't look like it fit in where it was? Yeah, I'm familliar with these particular stones, these pavers, I think I've used something real simillar to this in the past around the house. Well unfortunately we can't let you keep that, uh to use as a paver in your back yard any more but instead we'll give you a ten thousand dollar bounty a grand prize. Way to go! Fair trade. Wooooooo! What are you going to do with all that cash this holiday season? Oh heck I don't know, there's always imporvements around the house, this that and the other thing, so I'm sure we'll put it to good use. I have some ideas for you if you want to chat afterwards. Heh heh heh he ha
Vardell wrote: "Jingle bell rock 2012;
This year was crazy.. I was everywhere with the clues. Up behind the MGM by Audry street, Under the 15 freeway at Tropicana, off Sahara by the monorail,
down paradise, behind the stratosphere, downtown on 4th. @ Fremont by the Neonopolis, over by the Neon boneyard, over there by Desert Breeze, and by the
Thomas and Mack. We had fun trying to figure out the clues. I found out some interesting things about Las Vegas along the way.. like good ol "Big Jim Cashman"
without his heavy equipment this town would probably not be here today. We discovered the old Las Vegas and some of the first casinos on the strip.. the
Pair O Dice, El Rancho, and the Frontier.. and people like bankers E. Parry Thomas and Jerome Mack. Of the Thomas and Mack center. I found some streets
that had breath taking views of the Las Vegas strip. Hidden from most people.. we had fun and frustration too as the Jingle Bell Rock was nowhere near
any of them areas. Only the last clues had lead to the area of Magic way. And burkholder Henderson. So congratulations to: Gordon Mc Daniel who found
the Jingle Bell Rock. And won $10,000.00
Thanks to DeCall Thomas for his hard work and time posting the clues.. and 96.3 KKLZ
Still had fun with my daughter and look forward to next year.. to find the JINGLE BELL ROCK.

They've created a monster!!!
(to add your comments email decall@decallthomas.com)
A message from some of our top rock hunters:
"First of all I would like to thank 96.3 KKLZ for having this contest. Also a special thanks to Miz Lolas for throwing up the 10,000.00 and Michael E. Minden
for the diamond earings.
Second, how about a great big hand for Brian, the guy who found the rock. What an accomplishment!!! I have no idea if he was looking for three days, two weeks, or the whole time,
but he brought it home. Congrats!!!
Third, how about a big shout out to DeCall, the biggest fan and avid rock hunter of us all. He not only owns a business, but works full time there and not to take anything away
from KKLZ, he busts his a** on the JBR web site. This guy is amazing. What a great friend and I will tell everybody you have to meet this guy. He has been very close to finding
this rock, he would sleep in his van, welding truck, or some other vehicle I cannot identify at Logandale and go over the map and satellite picture with a high lighter and mark the
area he searched. A very determined man to find this prize. He would give his left leg to help anybody to find this rock. I cannot say enough about this gentlemen. You ROCK!!!
Ok, now my perspective on the JBR 2011: What a great contest!!! Not only do I live for this, half the time I cannot sleep but a few hours a night. This one is one to remember. I
thought I was close many of times only to be outdone by the man behind the scene. He was outstanding this year. Last year I have to admit I had no clue where the rock was. I was
in Henderson, the Speedway, and Downtown. Only to find out it was in my backyard, a half mile from my house. Duh!!!!!
Ok back to this year. I first started my journey in Henderson again and was there for about a week and finally discovered it wasn't there by the handwritten clue ( A place they call
home ). I still don't know why that clue was hand written, but oh well, maybe he was saying get the heck out of Hooterville Dummy!!! Then I realized we were at I-15 and St. Rose and
the west side opened up. Rubbing my hands back and forth I was like sweet maybe he hid it in the Northwest again. After days at Lone Mtn. and Far Hills I gave up on those places as
there was not enough desert. On Monday I ended up at Calico Basin because I was stuck at 215 and Summerlin Pkwy. and couldn't figure out which way to turn so I went to Charleston to
try and find something out there. I discovered the water, water every sign and figured I was totally in the right spot only to be outdone again as many rocks were overturned. I was
like this guy is good.
In the back of my mind I was thinking its in the Southwest, because I researched the Creosote Bush and it told me go to the SW. After a couple of days of the Planes clue I knew it was
out there somewhere I could not lead myself out far enough to find it. On Wed. night I had figured out many of the clues and was gonna head to Cactus and Quartehorse after I researched
the quarters. Boy was I too late on that idea.
Thursday morning had too much work to do and couldn't make it out there only too find out at lunch time it had been found the night before. Oh well there is always next year!!!!
Again thanks for all the memories and will be looking forward to next year!!
Thanks,
Shupester"
"I would like to say thanks to KKLZ 96.3 for putting on the JBR this year again, and Miz Lola's for the $10,000.00 and Michael E. Minden Jewelers for the
Diamond Ring. Also I would like to thank DeCall Thomas, for putting up the web site so everyone could have the clues, I know it's hard if you miss a clue or a bonus, I would
have been lost if it had not been for DeCall putting up the clues like he did. This was a Unofficial fan web site for the Jingle Bell Rock Contest, listeners that had missed a
clue, it would have been hard if you missed a clue and could not get it, so for that my hats off to DeCall for having the site. I did meet him on the hunt this year out in Henderson
around the NS collage on a very cold day, but had lots of fun looking for the JBR. Also I met other people looking for the JBR and hope to see them next year. I hope that some
year that he finds the JBR and we can all be happy that he did. Also help support the site by checking out the sponsors and his web site. And to everyone on the chat line, it was great
talking to everyone, and to all of you that said you had the JBR, well I hope next year you do have it.
Thank You very much for the site again this year DeCall, see you next year.
Rollie "
"Congratulations to Brian of Las Vegas who found the jingle bell rock at El capitan and cactus over a mound of dirt.. south west side of Las Vegas.. me and my daughter had a lot of fun looking for it. I was right to think El capitan was the big enchilada in the clues, but I should of stayed the course. Thinking that the sign at Santa fa station enchiladas for 7.99 was the obvious was a mistake. Also the clues about flying should of caught my attention as I listen to my scanner and here traffic control call aircraft CACTUS.. with the clues talking about hills and silver I was sure we would find it at centennial hills parkway where we would see the Santa fa station sign. We had a great time me and my 6 year old daughter. Memories we will always have together we still win.. thanks KKLZ and I would advise anyone to try to find the elusive jingle bell rock with there family and friends it really is a bonding experience. Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!"

a. The Jingle Bell Rock Contest will begin Monday, November 28th, 2011 at approximately 8:00 am and concludes when a contestant finds the Jingle Bell Rock or by Friday, December 23rd,
2011 at 12:00 pm, whichever comes first.
b. To participate in the contest, 96.3 KKLZ listeners will be given clues each weekday as to the location of the Jingle Bell Rock. Clues will be read in the 8:00am, 1:00pm, and 6:00pm
hours only. A daily bonus clue will be posted at all five Miz Lola's locations, address listed on www.963kklz.com.
Here you can see some of the EDGES and the correct shape and size of the rock. This is probably the best clue you can get. The color (on the other side) probably matches Vegas dirt, relatively close to his hand color. They may change it to a different color, you never know. What does it look like on the other side?? We'd all like to know, you'll just have to use your imagination. You can buy one at the hardware store if you are crazy weird out of your mind. Trust me, if you actually set your eyes on this baby, you'll know it. Also, it doesn't look like the rock is in two pieces this time. In years past we have seen two pieces, the big one out there somewhere and the little one to match up. Like a key to a lock
1 12/1 8am The Jingle Bell Rock is flat on two sides in the county of Clark is where it resides
2 12/1 1pm You must remember the rock's in plain sight... Finding it will be difficult at night
3 12/1 6pm Fly over the hump and into Pahrump... it's not where you'll find this valuable lump
4 12/2 8am In these states united there are twelve Clark Counties... The one in Nevada holds Jingle Bell bounties
5 12/2 1pm The rock is painted, the desert is not... The colorful side is face down in the lot.
6 12/2 6pm A shovel, a rake, a pick or a hoe... None of these tools will be needed you know
7 12/3 8am This spot is different than the two last year... the rock's hiding place is still very unclear
8 12/3 1pm A view of the strip would surely be nice... removing that structure would come at a price
9 12/3 6pm If you start at the dam there's no need to swim... stay out of the lake or things will turn grim
10 12/6 8am The dam we call Hoover creates big lake mead... the city you enter is rocky indeed
11 12/6 1pm A nice little town is a city named boulder... if you're searching here now, you couldn't't be colder
12 12/6 6pm 95, 93, or the big 515... from BC head north to accomplish your dream
13 12/7 8am US 95 is one way to get there... Take your own car to avoid the cab fare
14 12/7 1pm A neighborhood which one can forget about... Anthem is a place you don't have to scout
15 12/7 6pm Henderson is next on that big blue horizon... Is this where you'll find that Jingle Bell prize in?
16 12/8 8am Put the hook in and you're fishing for trout... now lake of Las Vegas is surely ruled out
17 12/8 1pm And as you approach the valley called green.. that Jingle Bell rock still ain't on the scene
18 12/8 6pm I-15 south heads straight for the border... if you're on this big freeway, you're out of order
19 12/9 8am If you've planted roots in Sloan or in Gene, then take 15 north in that driving machine
20 12/9 1pm The hills which boarder the valley's south side are rocky and black and not worth the ride
21 12/9 6pm Climb, climb away with little prince charlie... the rock is not here, but the snow boarding's gnarly
22 12/10 8am Mount Charleston you'll see if you look to the west... but where should one start, that's the real test
23 12/10 1pm In the west there's a canyon with stones that are red... if you follow the crow there's a valley that's dead
24 12/10 6pm If you are still in that canyon and you follow the trail... the odds makers say you will probably fail
25 12/13 8am find the rock and be filled with elation... sumerlin is not the rock's location
26 12/13 1pm In the south of the valley there's a diamond that's blue... but Michael E. Minden won't give it to you
27 12/13 6pm I-15 takes you to Mesquite by car... if you end up there, you've gone much too far.
28 12/14 8am Moapa and Glendale are closer you see... but you're still quite a ways away from your holiday glee.
29 12/14 1pm Incredible formations of stone are on fire... but the jingle bell rock won't be sold to a buyer
30 12/14 6pm You don't have to pay the state park one eye-ota (iota?)... your holiday bounty's from findlay toyota
31 12/15 8am The Jingle Bell Rock will soon be brought forth... that wildlife refuge is much too far north
32 12/15 1pm The Las Vegas Valley is where we reside... and this is the place where the rock does now hide
33 12/15 6pm There's no need to climb or swim to the shore... and you don't have to squeeze through a window or door
34 12/16 8am There's a place in our valley that's called Paradise... the rock is not there but it sure would be nice.
35 12/16 1pm Winchester cathedral is the name of a song... but here in this place, the rock does not belong
36 12/16 6pm The rock is not near to KKLZ... don't even bother with UNLV.
37 12/17 8am We all can look up to the Stratosphere tower.... the Jingle Bell Rock will give you the power
38 12/17 1pm The center of town is a great place to start... to learn the location you must do your part.
39 12/17 6pm In one of these cities the rock does now rest... they're all in clark county, and one is the best.
40 12/20 8am This is near a place where kids go to learn... you may not want to make that left hand turn.
41 12/20 1pm You're not gonna want to miss the next clue... the city revealed to me and to you
12/20 5:00 pm The Rock Has Been Found.... details soon.
INTERVIEW: "the (Dave) Kinsel family...how long have you guys been playing our jingle bell rock game? 13 years... so this year is the year I see it right before me, the world famous jingle bell rock. wooo hooo.. 5000 dollars cash, does that come in handy at the holidays? It sure does at a time like this. That is awesome, that of course courtesy of Findlay Toyota and Michael E. Minden Jewelers. Now there's a lot of lovely young ladies in here, why don't you give us the names of all these ladies. I have my wife kim, my mother in law jan, my daughter courtland and my other daughter chelsey. Chelsey are you getting that diamond necklace from Micheal E. Mendin diamond jewelers? cause you were brave enough to go on mic? or is someone else I think that we are all going to share it together the four of us girls. Ok now I've got to ask ya, what is the clue that finally gave it away for you guys? The number clues that talked about the view of the city, about seeing the stratosphere, the power the dam, there are areas we've been to, behind shadow ridge high school you got that dirt lot, and you run into where the view of the strip is blocked but you can see the stratosphere peeking up between the two buildings,.. that's where it was, it was a beautiful clue. For all those playing along with us on the jingle bell rock this year, please once again specifically give us the area where it was found. North Decatur all the way out, there's a bunch of power lines that come together, take a left at thom street (blvd) back behind shadow ridge high school there's a big dirt lot that's unclear, that's right were the rock is. just a few...(unclear) and my daughter courtney and my daughter chelsey and I have been out there and gone over that area so well in the jingle bell chase in the past, that we knew it so well and I went out... courtney was flying in that night from tcu where she was going to school, chelsey was still in school and uh..so I went out and walked a pattern, picked it up and took it home. The fun story is, they deserved to flip the rock just as I did that night, so I wrapped it in a box, and ripped it open, so they could have that same exciting feeling, that's the most terrific fun i've ever had in my life. That is awesome man,so you are the one who actually lifted, turned the rock over and found it, but you also actually let your family have that excitement as well? They deserved it and we felt so at home with it ... so when exactly did you have the rock in hand? about 11:30 12o-clock on Friday. so you've had it that long? even (yeah)yesterday, yeah, we had champagne with it, we took it out for dinner. we went down to the fabulous las vegas sign and uh took pictures uh, it's just been a long long chase. We'd like to thank the sponsors of kklz and kklz this is an awesome promotion, and you listen to the radio and you haven't gone out and done this... do it, it's fun, it's bonding"
Other Interview:
"if you go out north decature, all the way out there's power, there's a big bunch of powerlines that come together, uh you take a left on tom street (blvd) back behind shadow ridge high school, there's a big dirt lot that's unclear, back there there's water basins that come to a dam, the power just a little bit further north is an animal refuge where the new shooting range is. If you get out in that lot, about halfway out, the view of the strip is blocked by shadow ridge high school, and there's a gap between the buildings that the stratosphere pokes up above. If you walk towards it, that's where the rock was.... just what the clues say."
