It's Official. JBR 2022 found!

photo submitted GiGiGugino1

Found by Morissa B and John F 12/13/2022
near Arroyo and Blue Diamond Rd.
Morissa: One of the clues my mom figured out was take a minute, look around. A minute being 1 minute or 160 Being the starting point. Also you can honk but will they hear, well uber just rolled out their driverless vehicles which got us into the south side of city. Plus most of the direction clues said south so there was that. Most of the other clues eluded to titanic and blue diamond heart pendant she had. You can rock a boat but not here, just required finding something that eluded to water without there actually being water. Arroyo means fast flowing water, or steep gully The bonus clue a good book is worth a thousand words. Well there is a book by Bridget young called worth a thousand words so looking for a bridge. And the clue this morning if you're sick pull over. Confirmed it was on a winding road. Since the snow and ice would keep most of the mountain impassable and the clues say to stay close, the only other winding road was red rock canyon rd. So from there it was a matter of finding a blue diamond, a bridge, and a place for a boat without water. Arroyo heading into blue diamond town just over what looks like a bridge on the map.

My Story from Chris Blake:

Well I had one hell of a ride this year in the search for the JBR 2020. So lets get into my thoughts and begin my journey.

After the 1st few days of clues, I could see the bonus clues were eliminating areas of town. They started in the south along I-15 and worked its way up north into the city. So i knew not to follow the path of these clues but to rather avoid this path. Yes i paid attention to them but only to avoid the path they were leading to each day.  As fast as those clues were moving each day, I was able to see they were eliminating areas of town.  I say “eliminating” because the clues were always about “don’t go here”....   and if you truly did follow these bonus clues to the end, you would see that they ended up at a business called BOULDER PLACEMENT, which is where Summerlin parkway turns into 95 and is located near Rancho Drive.   And the point of this was to tell you that you’re at the wrong “BOULDER”.   Because, again, these were eliminating clues from the get go.  It should have rang a bell in your head that you're at the wrong Boulder. Boulder City was the correct place.

On December 4, the rock was dropped.  The Bonus Clues now started turning into clues that would lead you to the rock since it was dropped now.  Which is why The next bonus clue said, “now your heading in the right direction.” Before, they eliminated areas, but now they are taking you there even though it’s a long way around.

So I started focusing on the other clues. I knew from years past, the clue writer likes to give many clues that are around the ROCK location. There was one clue that stood out like a sore thumb and it was on the 2nd day. Clue #12 was my first “AH HAH” moment. Yes it was super early on but it made too much sense. As an experienced JBR hunter for the past 20yrs, i knew the rock was never hidden in Boulder City, NV. When i read Clue #12, “it cant be where it never was”, it instantly targeted Boulder City to me. Because this clue was saying “it was never here before, but now it is here.” So BC area was my target since Day 2. So now the question was will more clues target this area for me. This was a good thing for ME since i am in BC every month golfing and i have multiple friends who have lived there for years. I know this area very well.

As more clues were revealed, I could see the Bonus clues started eliminating the West side of town and also North. The Bonus clues were pretty obvious so i definitely knew to avoid these areas because clues leading to the actual rock are supposed to be deciphered and not so obvious. It is for $10,000, so it needs to be hard.

So other clues before the Rock was dropped that still pointed me to BC were clues 17, 21 and 59. “The missing piece is always the most important”....well Boulder City has always been the missing piece from hiding the rock. It has never been there. And then the clue “this rock does not roll”...that would also be “Boulder” City. Rock = Boulder. Clue #59 “put your shoe on the other foot” means opposite and i took that as opposite side of town from where the rock was hidden last year. So from northwest to southeast....

So now my area of town was pinned down. So now I had to start figuring out where in BC will the rock be. Well, because i know the area, i started seeing many clues pointing to skydiving. And as i stated above, i know the clue giver gives many clues that are around the Rock. So some of the clues related to the skydiving were “throw caution to the wind” (no skydiving in high winds), “its about team work” (instructor jumps with you), “think before you take the first step” (the initial jump out of plane makes you think), “its the right time, its you time” (gotta pump yourself up to go through with it once your in the sky), “Relax. Breathe. And Look again” (very nerve wracking as the moment arrives to actually jump), “Don’t be afraid of your own shadow” (when your in the sky high above as you fall with the parachute open, the shadow is huge. But the shadow minimizes in size as you get closer to the ground). “No need to hit the panics button yet” was about enjoying the free fall ( enjoy the mission) before releasing the parachute, which was the panic button.

Then other clues started adding on to my theory improving my chances immensely. There were Interstate 11 clues such as “the ONE clue you seek is the ONE” (11). There were BC airport clues such as “the early worm gets the BIRD” (bird meaning “plane” and it was off of “QUAIL” Rd.). Then there was a cemetery clue “its only a matter of time, trust me” (we all die eventually, Veteran Memorial Cemetery next to the BC Airport).

I also kept in mind Clue #34, “Use what you need and ignore the rest”...not every clue is significant. That was important because if I didn’t understand a clue, I didn’t jump to conclusions and leave my spot that i felt so confident about. I stayed with it from day 2.

So the start of the last week of clues, I knew the Directional clues will be coming. Only 5 days left so I knew my competition was gonna get stronger because at some point it will be obvious to everyone the rock is in or near BC.  Sure enough on Monday, the last week of clues, we get the clue “the best path totals 8” which was the 215. And we knew it wasn’t west, so here we go.  At this time, I started eliminating BLM land along the 95 freeway just south of RAILROAD PASS.

THE Friday it was dropped, I already eliminated all along I-11.  And I also drove to the exact location of the rock near Quail and went under the I-11 overpass and actually did a u-turn and came back to quail.  So I literally was maybe 20ft from the rock on the day it was dropped but I never got out to look for it.

SO On Monday,  I knew I had to start at least eliminating areas of BC that were BLM LAND.  Even though I had no clue which direction he would lead us too once the directional clues got us to BC.  so that’s what I did.  I made sure I covered areas thoroughly so I didn’t have to 2Nd guess my search efforts.  I had no luck.

So all I could was wait til I got the clues that told me when the heck do I turn off the 93 highway in BC. the next few days of clues were so obvious leading into BC.  SO it was frustrating because I already knew this since day 2.  Well then we got the “pass the waterfall” clue which was CASCATA.   so that helped some but there was still lots of BLM LAND to search.  Then we got the clue about “if you go around, you have gone too far”, well after Buchanan Rd, the 93 curves around north pretty fast so I knew that it was gonna be south down Buchanan or Veteran Memorial Drive.  At this time, I’m stuck at work.  But I told myself if I get a sky diving clue next, I know where it is at.   Because I knew the only area near Veteran memorial and Buchanan intersection that was BLM land is at the I-11 on Buchanan.  And knowing that we only had 1 day of clues left, it had to be there.  Well at 3:40, the clue “pack the bags and get ready to fly” came on and I just knew right away where it was. So  I called my buddy Jeremy who lives in BC since I was 30min away...he helped me looked one day already.  So I went back to him and said get up.  I need you to go to this location and look for the rock. It is there.  It took a few minutes for me to convince him, but he did.  He got there around 4:10.  I had home FaceTime me so I could direct him where to walk.  He found it in less than 1 minute Under a bush.  What a rush it was to see it.  We were so excited.  And relieved.

As for the time clues, all they meant was you had time.  No rush.  No need to run.  Same with the Hourglass clue.  So they didn’t mean too much.

As for the the clue about the “worst times”, I knew it was Wurst times for the Wurst Festival.  Because I did research in week 1 about popular activities that occur in Boulder City just in case clues like that would come about.  That’s how much I was invested in Boulder City.

As for my deciphering skills.  Mike at 96.3 KKLZ said I was dead on with the skydiving.  He was a part of the clues and knew what they all meant so that was cool for him to let me know I wasn’t imagining things.  We all know that we can make clues fit anywhere.  So I just wanted to say they were correct.

So that’s my Hunt.  Just wanna say thanks to Decall and everyone I associated with in chat room.  Also the bonus clue getters.   This happened to me because of a lot of you.

On a side note, I understand we all are going through a crazy pandemic.  Lots of families have lost loved ones, including myself.

So I just wanna send out prayers, especially to the friends and families of all those bicyclists whom lost their lives a few days ago.  Just heartbreaking.

On that note, I hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays.  Til next year.  You all are amazing.  What a great hunt this year.

Audio 1

96.3 KKLZ and the Silverton Casino Hotel have issued a $10,000 reward for the return of Mike & Carla's world famous Jingle Bell Rock. The ROCKNAPPER sent us this recording:
(Creepy Voice)
"We will hide the Jingle Bell Rock on Friday December 13th. We will give you varied clues each weekday on 96.3 KKLZ. You will also find a written clue posted at the Silverton Rewards Club each weekday. That is all for now."

96.3 KKLZ and the Silverton Casino Hotel are still offering a $10,000 reward for the return of Mike & Carla's world famous Jingle Bell Rock. The ROCKNAPPERS have contacted us again:
(Creepy Voice)
"The Jingle Bell Rock has not been harmed. You can begin searching for it on Friday, December 13th. Do not contact the police. Keep track of the clues running each weekday on 96.3 KKLZ and at the Silverton Reward Club. That is all for now."

96.3 KKLZ and the Silverton Casino Hotel are still offering a $10,000 reward for the return of Mike & Carla's world famous Jingle Bell Rock. Here is the latest from the ROCKNAPPERS:
(Creepy Voice)
"We are no longer in posession of the Jingle Bell Rock, but we are the only ones who know where it is hidden. Do not contact the authorities. Your only chance of finding the rock are to gather all the clues revealed each weekday on 96.3 KKLZ and at the Silverton's Rewards Club. That is all for now."

*** Attention: These are "Unofficial" cartoons by DeCall and ARE NOT CLUES ***
(just for fun, so don't be weird about it Jingle Nuts)

Newbies start HERE
Like I was saying, the RULES tell us that the CLUES START DECEMBER 2ND (details below), the radio clues are 8am, 1pm, and 6pm (more like, 8:10 etc. and only on weekdays), and the daily bonus clues are at the Silverton. Normally we can expect the bonus clue to be available around 8 or 9 a.m. at the Silverton rewards club. All 5 PUZZLE PIECES have been announced.(details below), AND "You can start looking for the 'JBR' on Friday, December 13th ."
Anyone could guess that the station probably doesn't want to meet a bunch of searchers when the rock arrives (after last year's near debacle), so as Mike O'Brien told us at the kickoff party, there is definitely some kind of twist to the contest this year. We don't know what this "TWIST" will be, but we can't wait to find out. Hopefully kklz learned not to take a picture of the search area... too many crazed Jingle Nuts playing this game, and just the kind of challenge we love. Good Luck JBR hunters 2019.

sad news

RIP Yvonne and Frank

RIP Yvonne. Sorry to say we lost one of our searchers this year. Yvonne was a tough and determined searcher for many years. I also saw her do many acts of service for others. She was funny of course, and demanding and strong willed too. Even more heartbreaking, her husband Frank also died a few weeks later after a short battle with cancer. Frank was a valued friend of mine. Nicest guy for sure. We'll miss you Frank and Yvonne.

What's the story?

Our spies are working hard to find out where "JB" is hanging out this year till the big day. Rumors abound...

Was he kidnapped?

We're not sure, but until we find out, see what Mr. JBR was doing last year before it started. "JB" as some friends like to call him, was seen living the life of luxury in the tropics somewhere.

Wow! What a ride... One of the first things we figured out was that Mrs. JBR wanted her husband to be found asap by eliminating big areas, but Mr. JBR was slowly giving the clues. To get going in the right direction the clue: you might see mountains, but they are not 100 years old, led us to 7 magic mountains. Then the clue: not the gold or sun coast, well that left Gold Strike. The pictures of the airport and Nellis got us to the airstrip off exit 12. From there it all started coming together. Dec 15th kept getting mentioned, and it meant exit 12 off the 15. All the signs up 161 matched the clues given. First there was highway sponsorship sign for the steakhouse saloon in town (Blue Diamond Saloon picture) & a sponsor for the All Day Egg Cafe (mind your manners, but not in the morning). Then there was a sign leading you to the ghost town (go go go, but not on Durango). The last sign on the opposite side of the road was a sponsor for The Twisters drill team (I cannot promise a breeze in this part of the desert). Next you come to a small old graveyard, just as you hit the sign for the town of Goodsprings (rack em stack um). Around the bend is the Saloon that has a Welcome to Goodsprings sign (all the welcome to pictures). The icing on the cake was the clue: Come and find me and mine. We drove right back through town and came to Columbia Mill Rd (the road less traveled); which led us to Reimann rd where we saw the back of a stop sign (octagon). We located the Jingle Bell Rock very soon after. It was on the same side of the road as the stop sign with a "rock group". It was slightly visible when approaching it; since it was leaning down toward the base of the largest rock in the group. Thank you all for your kind words. Also, I want to take a moment and thank Decall for bringing all the JBR hunters together and creating a space where we can all talk things through. And finally...we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Let's do it again next year!!! Sincerely, Mrs. JbrPrincess and Mr. JingleBallzRock

Jaybie? (the story in pictures)

We've all been wondering... what is Mr. JBR is doing till the 15th? "JB" as some friends like to call him, has been seen livin the life of luxury in the tropics somewhere (credit Facebook). Hopefully he returns soon...

Hearing Voices?

It seems that KKLZ has just learned that "Mr. Jingle Bell Rock" talks. We have known this for years of course, with his grouchy comments and insults. Also well known, is that "JB" has no difficulties with the ladies, often seen throwing themselves on him. Who knew he was married?! Recent promos have revealed JB is indeed married, and she has something to say about this contest. JB is an elusive and mysterious guy... hard to nail down, so when we get the audio, we'll let you hear it.

East end of Burkholder Blvd.

From Angela:

This was my 5th year searching. I have been close to finding it the past 3 years, I could never pinpoint the exact location. I started thinking the first day clues were only talking about the rock..no direction yet. Nothing really clicked until after the full week of clues were given. Then I really started thinking of what the writer of the clues was thinking since nothing was making much sense to me. That's when I put the clues to use. I thought of all this pretty much in one night. Always look down(south) flat as a pancake(head east-it's the name of the band that sings flat as a pancake) . I had to put the videotape and book clues together because I then knew not a videotape meant book. So please be kind rewind (previous locations) the book he was referring to was let's go to the videotape by Warren WOLF (basic high are the wolves). I couldn't put any other things together out there besides the Seinfeld says. I started to think things Seinfeld says because of the seinlanguage clue. Seinfeld has this thing about"the Drake. He says, "hate the Drake!" But on the show you either love the Drake or you hate the Drake. So when I couldn't find anything around the corner from magic way and burkholder on magic and drake( where it was previous) I went to the spot it had been and headed all the way east. Came up to an arrow that pointed right ,parked, walked across the street and looked being the first bush and the rock was there . Flat as a pancake with a book seinlanguage upside down with the clue, it's my book but you can read it on the back cover and a videotape sitting next to it! Wow! I broke the clues down and finally found the rock! Shoot out to kklz, the Silverton, and decall!!.. The first day. I didnt know what to do with myself. The second day I was still in disbelief..and now.. well... I'm sad is over! This is my life during December lol... Until next year JBR hunters.....

From Ian @Mallcrawler(Dec. 20, 2015):

JBR found 2015!!!!
Ian's Story: "Found It"
This is my 3rd year searching for the rock. The last 2 years I was searching on the complete opposite end of the valley from where it had be found. Not this year, I figured it would be south somewhere since it had be north 2 years in a row. I started my search off sunset/post area as the clues seemed to do with writing. I had then moved toward Sloan and jean, and had spent 2 weeks looking around out there. I had pretty much given up once the boulder highway clues were announced, but with the last picture clue yesterday (blue diamond) I figured it was time to start looking again. I grew up in the area so once the I put the clues together it had made sense. I knew off blue diamond and hualaipai was a power line road that ran along a water retention basin. Along the power line road was a row of boulders (row row row your boulder) And a line of square concrete blocks chained together (chain gang, these rocks don't roll). I went out Saturday night and searched for a bit in the dark. I found a few mattresses and knew I had to be getting close. I put a rock in the road to mark how far I had searched so I could pick up in the same spot the next morning. Turns out the rock was about 50 feet further from where I had stopped Saturday night.

Ian and Megan at kklz studio
Live interview December 21, 2015 at 4:45 pm (With Larry Martino)
Larry: The World Famous Jingle Bell Rock has been found! Congratulations to Ian and his wife Megan. Ten thousand dollar reward, all yours from Pawn Plaza and 96.3 KKLZ. What are you going to do with all that cash this holiday season?
Ian: Pay off some bills
Larry: Well man I know that feeling buddy well Good. Glad we were able to help you do that at least. So, uhh, do you play Jingle Bell Rock year after year or is the first time you've played?
Ian: Uhhh this is my 3rd year playing
Larry: 3rd year playing, Ok and have you gotten close in previous years?
Ian: Nope, I've gone to the opposite side of the valley every time.
Larry: Okay, so this year... a lot of people, as always, complaining that these clues made absoulutly no sense. Did they make a little bit of sense to you this year?
Ian: Um, I was way off in the beginning, but once I got the right area, and everything clicked, and everything was right there.
Larry: Was there a clue that really helped you narrow it down, the area where it might be?
Ian: Uum, the "Row of row, row your boulder" and "the chain gang". this is a, this area all made sense.
Larry: So, so what was near there that made those clues make sense.
Ian: Um, down the road, there was a whole row of boulders which the rock was behind, and next to that there was square blocks that were all chained together.
Larry: Very cool, so now, nobody knows exactly where it was found except for you and the person who hid it so, uhh, where exactly was this year's Jingle Bell Rock found?
Ian: Uhhh, just south of Blue Diamond off of Hualapai, there's a powerline road. Take that out just about a hundred yards or so, and it was right there.
Larry: And, was it behind anything, under.. it, was it hidden in plain sight?
Ian: It was behind a bunch of rocks.
Larry: Okay, but it was in plain sight?
Ian: Yup.
Larry: You didn't have to do any digging?
Ian: Nope.
Larry: Alrightie.. and uhh, you know, there was a lot of clues about, uh you know, pens and calendars... Did all that make sense?
Ian: Yeah once you find the rock, .heh heh,
Larry: So was there stuff near there or what?
Ian: There was uhh, there was stuff around the rock and underneath it
Larry: Okay
Ian: But uhh, yeah, there was a mattress right across the road
Larry: Oh, oh, the godfather clues
Ian: Yeah...
Larry: heh heh heh hah
Ian: There were a bunch of fish tanks that were broken
Larry: No kiddin, well that's cool. So once again, that's in the South West part of town?
Ian: Yup.
Larry: Kinda west of mountain sage, would you say?
Ian: Yes.
Larry: Okay, and once again it's on... is that power line road. Is that what that's called?
Ian: uh, it's just like a, it's just a...
Larry: or Hualapai
Ian: It's Hualapai
Larry: It's Hualapai, just south of Blue Diamond Road. Ten thousand dollar grand prize, and uh, did you have any help this year.
Ian: Um, I had some friends out looking with me, but when we found it, it was just me and the wife.
Larry: That's cool, what did that feel like, of course that feeling when you finally see it?
Ian: Huge amount of relief...
Larry: heh heh heh hah
Ian: It eats at me every, every year until I, it's, it's either found or I find it.
Larry: It does drive people crazy, I gotta say, people say I'm never gonna play this game again and then the following year, all right, I'm going to try it again,
Ian: Exactly
Larry: Well congratulations to you guys. Man, I hope you have a very merry christmas and a happy new year. So happy you were able to find the Jingle Bell Rock. Thanks for coming in, and uh, enjoy all that cash this season.
Ian: Thank you

Congratulations Gordon McDaniel Gordon McDaniel JBR

JBR2012_found

Congratulations to Gordon McDaniel who has found the jingle bell rock worth $10,000. Right on. Wooohoo!! Congratulations man, we are happy for you. And who is the lovely lady with you? That's my wife Ann. Ann how are you. Just fine thank you. Thank you for yelling from the back of the room. Alright. First of all where did you find it? Burkholder and Magic Way in Henderson. And what clue led you to that. This combination uh this past week it's been leading us down Boulder Highway. What toped it this afternoon was the clue about beans. I puzzled about it for a while and uh finally came up with Jack and the Bean Stock, magic beans, (oh wow) And just started driving magic way. And were there any other people out in that area looking? There were people out there all over the place, with the closest person was probably a hundred yards away, a lot of people walking off into the deep desert. Burkholder and South Magic Way, is that like a corner, are there corners there? Yeah, it's kind of an intersection, uh one road's paved, Burkholder's paved, and uh Magic Way is dirt road at that section. Just didn't look like it fit in where it was? Yeah, I'm familliar with these particular stones, these pavers, I think I've used something real simillar to this in the past around the house. Well unfortunately we can't let you keep that, uh to use as a paver in your back yard any more but instead we'll give you a ten thousand dollar bounty a grand prize. Way to go! Fair trade. Wooooooo! What are you going to do with all that cash this holiday season? Oh heck I don't know, there's always imporvements around the house, this that and the other thing, so I'm sure we'll put it to good use. I have some ideas for you if you want to chat afterwards. Heh heh heh he ha

Vardell wrote: "Jingle bell rock 2012;
This year was crazy.. I was everywhere with the clues. Up behind the MGM by Audry street, Under the 15 freeway at Tropicana, off Sahara by the monorail, down paradise, behind the stratosphere, downtown on 4th. @ Fremont by the Neonopolis, over by the Neon boneyard, over there by Desert Breeze, and by the Thomas and Mack. We had fun trying to figure out the clues. I found out some interesting things about Las Vegas along the way.. like good ol "Big Jim Cashman" without his heavy equipment this town would probably not be here today. We discovered the old Las Vegas and some of the first casinos on the strip.. the Pair O Dice, El Rancho, and the Frontier.. and people like bankers E. Parry Thomas and Jerome Mack. Of the Thomas and Mack center. I found some streets that had breath taking views of the Las Vegas strip. Hidden from most people.. we had fun and frustration too as the Jingle Bell Rock was nowhere near any of them areas. Only the last clues had lead to the area of Magic way. And burkholder Henderson. So congratulations to: Gordon Mc Daniel who found the Jingle Bell Rock. And won $10,000.00
Thanks to DeCall Thomas for his hard work and time posting the clues.. and 96.3 KKLZ
Still had fun with my daughter and look forward to next year.. to find the JINGLE BELL ROCK.
Marry Christmas everyone.."

A message from some of our top rock hunters:

From Shupster

"First of all I would like to thank 96.3 KKLZ for having this contest. Also a special thanks to Miz Lolas for throwing up the 10,000.00 and Michael E. Minden for the diamond earings.

Second, how about a great big hand for Brian, the guy who found the rock. What an accomplishment!!! I have no idea if he was looking for three days, two weeks, or the whole time, but he brought it home. Congrats!!!

Third, how about a big shout out to DeCall, the biggest fan and avid rock hunter of us all. He not only owns a business, but works full time there and not to take anything away from KKLZ,  he busts his a** on the JBR web site. This guy is amazing. What a great friend and I will tell everybody you have to meet this guy. He has been very close to finding this rock, he would sleep in his van, welding truck, or some other vehicle I cannot identify at Logandale and go over the map and satellite picture with a high lighter and mark the area he searched. A very determined man to find this prize. He would give his left leg to help anybody  to find this rock. I cannot say enough about this gentlemen. You ROCK!!!

Ok, now my perspective on the JBR 2011: What a great contest!!! Not only do I live for this, half the time I cannot sleep but a few hours a night. This one is one to remember. I thought I was close many of times only to be outdone by the man behind the scene. He was outstanding this year. Last year I have to admit I had no clue where the rock was. I was in Henderson, the Speedway, and Downtown. Only to find out it was in my backyard, a half mile from my house. Duh!!!!!

Ok back to this year. I first started my journey in Henderson again and was there for about a week and finally discovered it wasn't there by the handwritten clue ( A place they call home ). I still don't know why that clue was hand written, but oh well, maybe he was saying get the heck out of Hooterville Dummy!!! Then I realized we were at I-15 and St. Rose and the west side opened up. Rubbing my hands back and forth I was like sweet maybe he hid it in the Northwest again. After days at Lone Mtn. and Far Hills I gave up on those places as there was not enough desert. On Monday I ended up at Calico Basin because I was stuck at 215 and Summerlin Pkwy. and couldn't figure out which way to turn so I went to Charleston to try and find something out there. I discovered the water, water every sign and figured I was totally in the right spot only to be outdone again as many rocks were overturned. I was like this guy is good.

In the back of my mind I was thinking its in the Southwest, because I researched the Creosote Bush and it told me go to the SW. After a couple of days of the Planes clue I knew it was out there somewhere I could not lead myself out far enough to find it. On Wed. night I had figured out many of the clues and was gonna head to Cactus and Quartehorse after I researched the quarters. Boy was I too late on that idea.

Thursday morning had too much work to do and couldn't make it out there only too find out at lunch time it had been found the night before.  Oh well there is always next year!!!!

Again thanks for all the memories and will be looking forward to next year!!

Thanks,

Shupester"

"I would like to say thanks to KKLZ 96.3 for putting on the JBR this year again, and Miz Lola's for the $10,000.00 and Michael E. Minden Jewelers for the Diamond Ring. Also I would like to thank DeCall Thomas, for putting up the web site so everyone could have the clues, I know it's hard if you miss a clue or a bonus, I would have been lost if it had not been for DeCall putting up the clues like he did. This was a Unofficial fan web site for the Jingle Bell Rock Contest, listeners that had missed a clue, it would have been hard if you missed a clue and could not get it, so for that my hats off to DeCall for having the site. I did meet him on the hunt this year out in Henderson around the NS collage on a very cold day, but had lots of fun looking for the JBR. Also I met other people looking for the JBR and hope to see them next year. I hope that some year that he finds the JBR and we can all be happy that he did. Also help support the site by checking out the sponsors and his web site. And to everyone on the chat line, it was great talking to everyone, and to all of you that said you had the JBR, well I hope next year you do have it. Thank You very much for the site again this year DeCall, see you next year.

From Vardell

"Congratulations to Brian of Las Vegas who found the jingle bell rock at El capitan and cactus over a mound of dirt.. south west side of Las Vegas.. me and my daughter had a lot of fun looking for it. I was right to think El capitan was the big enchilada in the clues, but I should of stayed the course. Thinking that the sign at Santa fa station enchiladas for 7.99 was the obvious was a mistake. Also the clues about flying should of caught my attention as I listen to my scanner and here traffic control call aircraft CACTUS.. with the clues talking about hills and silver I was sure we would find it at centennial hills parkway where we would see the Santa fa station sign. We had a great time me and my 6 year old daughter. Memories we will always have together we still win.. thanks KKLZ and I would advise anyone to try to find the elusive jingle bell rock with there family and friends it really is a bonding experience. Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!"

Jingle Bell Rock Clues

Jingle Bell Rock on Facebook

Here you can see some of the EDGES and the correct shape and size of the rock. This is probably the best clue you can get. The color (on the other side) probably matches Vegas dirt, relatively close to his hand color. They may change it to a different color, you never know. What does it look like on the other side?? We'd all like to know, you'll just have to use your imagination. You can buy one at the hardware store if you are crazy weird out of your mind. Trust me, if you actually set your eyes on this baby, you'll know it. Also, it doesn't look like the rock is in two pieces this time. In years past we have seen two pieces, the big one out there somewhere and the little one to match up. Like a key to a lock

Now there's a lot of lovely young ladies in here, why don't you give us the names of all these ladies. I have my wife kim, my mother in law jan, my daughter courtland and my other daughter chelsey. Chelsey are you getting that diamond necklace from Micheal E. Mendin diamond jewelers? cause you were brave enough to go on mic? or is someone else I think that we are all going to share it together the four of us girls. Ok now I've got to ask ya, what is the clue that finally gave it away for you guys? The number clues that talked about the view of the city, about seeing the stratosphere, the power the dam, there are areas we've been to, behind shadow ridge high school you got that dirt lot, and you run into where the view of the strip is blocked but you can see the stratosphere peeking up between the two buildings,.. that's where it was, it was a beautiful clue. For all those playing along with us on the jingle bell rock this year, please once again specifically give us the area where it was found. North Decatur all the way out, there's a bunch of power lines that come together, take a left at thom street (blvd) back behind shadow ridge high school there's a big dirt lot that's unclear, that's right were the rock is. just a few...(unclear) and my daughter courtney and my daughter chelsey and I have been out there and gone over that area so well in the jingle bell chase in the past, that we knew it so well and I went out... courtney was flying in that night from tcu where she was going to school, chelsey was still in school and uh..so I went out and walked a pattern, picked it up and took it home. The fun story is, they deserved to flip the rock just as I did that night, so I wrapped it in a box, and ripped it open, so they could have that same exciting feeling, that's the most terrific fun i've ever had in my life. That is awesome man,so you are the one who actually lifted, turned the rock over and found it, but you also actually let your family have that excitement as well? They deserved it and we felt so at home with it ... so when exactly did you have the rock in hand? about 11:30 12o-clock on Friday. so you've had it that long? even (yeah)yesterday, yeah, we had champagne with it, we took it out for dinner. we went down to the fabulous las vegas sign and uh took pictures uh, it's just been a long long chase. We'd like to thank the sponsors of kklz and kklz this is an awesome promotion, and you listen to the radio and you haven't gone out and done this... do it, it's fun, it's bonding"

Other Interview:

"if you go out north decature, all the way out there's power, there's a big bunch of powerlines that come together, uh you take a left on tom street (blvd) back behind shadow ridge high school, there's a big dirt lot that's unclear, back there there's water basins that come to a dam, the power just a little bit further north is an animal refuge where the new shooting range is.  If you get out in that lot, about halfway out, the view of the strip is blocked by shadow ridge high school, and there's a gap between the buildings that the stratosphere pokes up above. If you walk towards it, that's where the rock was.... just what the clues say."
